I am a professor of Economics and the vice-dean for education and students affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University, Egypt. I got my Ph.D. in Economics, in 2010, from Toulouse School of Economics, under the supervision of Professor Alban Thomas.  

 

Since 2008, I participated in several research projects of international organizations such as IFPRI, UNDP (Regional Office in Cairo), World Bank, UN-ESCWA, UN-FAO, IFAD, OECD and UNESCO.  From 2023 to 2024, I was the  representative of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Egypt.

 

I am the co-founder and the general secretary of the Egyptian Economic Association, a research fellow at the Economic Research Forum (ERF), a fellow of the Summer Program in Social Science (SPSS) at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and a fellow of the International Monetary Fund Research Academy. II serve as Associate Editor of the African Development Review and as a member of the Associate Editorial Board of NEW MEDIT Journal. I sit on the Advisory Committee of the Economic Research Forum and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Egyptian Food Bank. And I have represented Egypt as Country Deputy Director of the Euro-Mediterranean and Africa Network for Economic Studies since 2019. And I am lauréate of the Programme Femme d’Avenir en Méditerranée- Sciences Po Paris.
